Welcome to the TNOS Request Server (REQSVR) release 1.01b1
The current version of REQSVR is a sub-set of the standard REQDBF commands
with extensions to support group message distribution. You send a command
to REQSVR by sending a message to REQSVR@HOST. The desired command is given
as the subject for the message. Only the Upload command has any data, so all
other types have a blank body for the message. The response from the server
will return the same subject line, following a status description. If no
errors are found, this will be "Accepted", followed by your REQSVR command.
The valid commands are:
H[elp] (or I[nfo]) Returns this document.
W[hat] [dir|file] Returns a directory of the desired directory
or files. Wildcards are allowed. If no dir/filesp
is given, the root directory is used. You must have
permission to view the dir/files requested.
D[ownload] filename Retrieves (Downloads) a copy of the file named
'filename' from the server. You must have
permission to read that file.
U[pload] filename Sends (Uploads) a file named 'filename' to
the server. You must have permission to write
that file.
V[ersion] Returns the current version of TNOS running on
the server system.
INFOR[m] dir|file This command asks REQSVR on the server to
inform you of all changes made to the specified
file. This will not send you the file but rather a
message telling you that the file has been changed.
You can then decide if you wish to request a new
copy of that file from the server. You must have
permission to read that file. You may also request
to be informed of all changes to any file in a
directory by giving a directory name.
To cancel an INFORM use UNINFORM.
UNI[nform] dir|file This command cancels an existing INFORM request
on the server. This command will be accepted
by any server that has accepted the INFORM request.
(Be sure to send this to the server that is sending
you the INFORM notices)
S[ubscribe] dir|file This command asks REQSVR on the server to send
you a copy of 'filenm' each time it is changed by
REQSVR. You must have permission to read that file.
You may also request to be sent a copy of all files
changes in a directory by giving a directory name.
Subscribe's may be cancelled with the UNSUBSCRIBE
request.
UNS[ubscribe] dir|file This command cancels an existing SUBSCRIBE request
on the server. This command will be accepted by
any server that has accepted the SUBSCRIBE request.
(Be sure to send this to the server that is sending
you the INFORM notices)
G[roup] action [name] This command supports the TNOS function of
distribution groups. A distribution group works
like an alias, or more accurately, like an Internet
mail-group. The group "action" is executed on the
destination server. All users are permitted the
following actions:
G[roup] S[ubscribe] groupname
Adds yourself to the mail group, "groupname"
G[roup] U[nsubscribe] groupname
Removes yourself from mail group, "groupname"
G[roup] L[ist]
Send you a message back with a listing of the
current mail groups on the destination server.
The following actions are available only to those
who have SYSOP permissions on the destination server:
G[roup] I[nform] groupname
Allows you to be informed of new members to
the mail group, "groupname"
G[roup] UNI[nform] groupname
Stops informing you of new members to the
mail group, "groupname"
G[roup] A[dd] groupname
Creates a new mail group, "groupname"
G[roup] D[elete] groupname
Deletes an existing mail group, "groupname"
Q[th] callsign Returns callbook infomation for the ham call
"callsign".
ERROR STATUS DESCRIPTIONS:
Not Found xxxx The HELP/INFO file was not found on the server's
system.
Denied xxxx You do not have proper permission on the server's
system to complete the desired action. This can
come in response to a W, D, or U command.
IO Error xxxx There was an IO error on the server's system. This
is most probably caused by an invalid filename.
This can come in response to a W, D, or U command.
Unknown xxxx This comes back to you if you requested a command
that the server's system does not recognize.
If one of the above Error Status Descriptions are generated, the Mail Daemon
sends the original message back to the requestor and a message is send to
the SYSOP of the server system. The original message is stored on the server
system for the SYSOP's examination.
